Man jailed for 20 years for murder

A 25-year-old man from Omupanda village near Ondangwa was found guilty on a charge of murder and attempted murder and sentenced to 20 years and eight years respectively.

Michael Aron Petrus was sentenced by Magistrate Paulus Noa in the Ondangwa Regional Court. He was charged with the murder of his mother, Foibe Sebulon (55), by chopping her five times on the head with an axe February 23 last year.On the same day he also attempted to kill Daniel Katimba by chopping him with an axe on the head and left arm.One of the witnesses in the case, Paulus Sebulon, the son of Foibe, informed the court that he found his mother lying dead on the ground with blood flowing from her head.Next to her was an axe, a chicken and a bible.He was charged with the murder of his mother, Foibe Sebulon (55), by chopping her five times on the head with an axe February 23 last year.On the same day he also attempted to kill Daniel Katimba by chopping him with an axe on the head and left arm.One of the witnesses in the case, Paulus Sebulon, the son of Foibe, informed the court that he found his mother lying dead on the ground with blood flowing from her head.Next to her was an axe, a chicken and a bible.
