Kapumba Nepemde (37) allegedly died in a house fire while chained to the bed.
The incident happened on Saturday at around 20h00 at Eenkundi village.
Omusati regional police crime investigations coordinator deputy commissioner Malakia Simaho said Nepembe, who had a psycho-social disability, and three children aged two, 10 and 11 were left in the house while the elders attended a wedding.
“The deceased was chained to the bed in the sleeping room by his aunt while they were out. Around 20h00, people at nearby cuca shops noticed a fire coming from the homestead and they rushed over to assess the situation. Upon arrival they found the deceased’s bedroom burning. They could not rescue him and he was burnt beyond recognition,” reported Simaho.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
