Man beaten to death over tin of fish

A 50-YEAR-OLD man was beaten to death by four suspects over a tin of fish at Omatjete in the Erongo region on Sunday.

According to an incident report issued by Erongo crime investigations coordinator Erastus Iikuyu yesterday, the suspected three men and a woman, aged between 22 and 33, accused the victim of stealing their tin of fish before kicking and beating him all over the body, as well as stabbing him in the chest.

He sustained serious injuries, and was taken to the Omatjete state clinic. He was later transferred to the Omaruru State Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

Iikuyu told that the deceased’s next of kin had not been traced yet, and he could therefore not provide the victim’s name.

The four suspects were arrested, and will appear in the Omaruru Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday). This comes at the same time that a man, Romeo Kangulu (28), was murdered in a street robbery incident at Mondesa, Swakopmund, over the past weekend. He was attacked by three young men and robbed of all his belongings, including his clothes. The suspects were arrested.
