A man (22) was allegedly attacked by a crocodile while bathing at a river at Kafuma village in the Kavango West region on Wednesday.
Police chief inspector Raimbert Muronga said the man has been identified as Damian Haikera.
Haikera allegedly went to the river to bath and was attacked by a crocodile in the process.
Muronga said Haikera escaped with a broken right arm, and some bruises on his right foot and left arm.
He was rescued by members of the public and was taken to Nankudu Hospital, but was immediately transferred to Rundu State Hospital.
Muronga warned community members to be cautious and to refrain from swimming in the river during flooding.
“People should always be accompanied by someone when going to the river as it has filled up, and reptiles, as well as dangerous animals, are imminent, including crocodiles and hippos, while snakes remain a threat.”
