Man arrested over rape and robbery

An Ohangwena man found himself in double trouble after he was arrested over rape and robbery.

The police in the Ohangwena region reported that the suspect, who is yet to appear in court, allegedly threatened a sales person with a knife at a mini-market at Oheti village on Thursday.

He then allegedly proceeded to rob her of her cellphone and money, and raped her.

Both the suspect and victim are 29 years old.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect was allegedly found in possession N$1 250 in cash, and a cellphone valued at N$1 500.

The police say further the suspect was reported to them on the same day after he held a woman at knifepoint at another shop at the same village, stealing recharge vouchers and N$350.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Eenhana Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of rape and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
