A Grootfontein man (25) was allegedly stabbed to death by his younger brother at Grootfontein’s Kap n Bou informal settlement on Monday.
Otjozondjupa head of community affairs senior inspector Maureen Mbeha yesterday said the incident took place at their family home when the deceased tried to stop his brother from attacking their sister.
The deceased has identified as Frankie Aukumeb.
Mbeha said preliminary police investigations indicate that the younger brother (21) was fighting with his sister, when Aukumeb intervened.
“It was in the process of trying to separate them that the suspect allegedly stabbed Aukumeb in the right shoulder with a knife.
Aukumeb sustained an open wound and succumbed to his injury at the scene,” she said.
The knife suspected to have been used in the incident was recovered by the police at the scene, she added.
The suspect was arrested on a charge of murder on the same night and is expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court this week.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
