Male MPs And Red Line

Male MPs And Red Line

THE parliamentary deliberations by a majority of our male MPs, when debating the Red Line and animal disease control, were blind.

They expressed un-economic ideas as they sided with one another to call for the abolition of the Red Line. It is a pity that our MPs sometimes approach motions carelessly and with egoistic attitudes.I totally agree in principle that the Red Line has bad implications for the majority of our farmers, but it is ironic for MPs to call for the abolition of it without making a plan for eradication of animal diseases in the country.A person of credibility and with national interests at heart must be fully conscious of the fact that elimination of the Red Line at this moment might have negative impact on our economy as far as farm products are concerned. The fact is our principal buyers are not necessarily controlled by the decision of our MPs, but are only attracted by what is perceived as good worldwide.A principled man should first find the way to convince the world that Namibia is free from animal diseases. If it is so, or if it is not so, then make the disease eradication plan and then advertise it.Amakombo Kamatuka WindhoekIt is a pity that our MPs sometimes approach motions carelessly and with egoistic attitudes.I totally agree in principle that the Red Line has bad implications for the majority of our farmers, but it is ironic for MPs to call for the abolition of it without making a plan for eradication of animal diseases in the country.A person of credibility and with national interests at heart must be fully conscious of the fact that elimination of the Red Line at this moment might have negative impact on our economy as far as farm products are concerned. The fact is our principal buyers are not necessarily controlled by the decision of our MPs, but are only attracted by what is perceived as good worldwide.A principled man should first find the way to convince the world that Namibia is free from animal diseases. If it is so, or if it is not so, then make the disease eradication plan and then advertise it.Amakombo Kamatuka Windhoek
