A white rhinoceros, also known as a square-lipped rhino (scientific name Cera- totherium simum), photographed in Namibia’s Etosha National Park. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), there are about 17 000 white rhinos in Africa. The species is classified as near threatened and almost 99% of its population is found in just four countries: South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Kenya.
