Mafia boss dies in police raid

ROME – A Sicilian Mafia boss listed as one of Italy’s 30 most-wanted criminals died yesterday when police raided the country house where he was hiding near Enna, central Sicily, news reports said.

It was not immediately clear whether Daniele Emmanuello, 43, was shot and killed in a gunfight with police or whether he died falling down a precipice while trying to escape, the reports said.
