CAPE TOWN – German airline Lufthansa will double its flights to South Africa from October 31.
The carrier will reinstate its daily flights between Frankfurt and Cape Town to meet increased demand for this route as the local holiday season approaches.This is in addition to its daily flights between Johannesburg and Frankfurt.The added flights will increase its capacity to South Africa by about 60 per cent over a period of five months.’Operating the Boeing B747-400 to Cape Town will give us the additional capacity boost so needed during South Africa’s summer season,’ said Axel Simon, director southern Africa for Lufthansa German Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines. Besides the seasonal schedule to the Cape predominantly used by the European leisure market, Lufthansa also operates a daily non-stop flight between Johannesburg and Frankfurt throughout the year using an Airbus A380. Since deploying this aircraft on the route, the capacity per month has been increased by more than 6 000 seats. – Fin24.com
