Several organisations took part in a mock oil-spill drill at Lüderitz Harbour on Saturday to test how teams would respond to a real marine pollution incident.
During the drill the Namibian Foundation for the Conservation of Seabirds team “rescued” African penguins, Cape gannets and lesser flamingos to simulate the impact of an oil spill on coastal wildlife.
“Our team gained valuable insights into how we can improve our operations and better prepare ourselves for possible oil spill incidents,” said the foundation.
The exercise was organised and facilitated by Captain Talent from Debmarine Namibia and Deene Collopy.
