PINEHAS NAKAZIKOAFRO-pop and traditional singer Frederick Shitana, better known as Lieutenant Shitana or Lt Shitana, added another milestone to his music career when he signed an agreement with Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) to represent and promote Tafel Lager across the country.
This was confirmed by NBL area manager, Rafael Ndjombe.
“We have been engaged with this deal since last year, and the project was approved at the beginning of February this year,” Shitana says.
Over the weekend, the singer performed under the Tafel Lager brand at Greenwell’s Oshitambi bar and Shaamu bar at Okahandja.
“I will be doing more activations in many towns every month. I am very thankful to NBL who chose me to be the promoter of Tafel Lager in Namibia, and I will make sure to fulfil the agreement we have,” he says.
Lt Shitana is one of many artists who make music not for money or fame, but because it’s something he loves to do.
Well-known for being quite controversial, his debut album was titled ‘Tetekela Shii’, which means ‘bad things come first and good things come in the end’, which took the entire nation by storm.
With 10 albums already under his belt, the singer is determined to deliver nothing but the best. Building on the momentum of the last decade in the industry, Lt Shitana’s 10th album, titled ‘Oshimbwiyu’, was released at the end of last year. It consists of 12 songs which delve into the role he has played in Namibian music, and also encourages unemployed people not to give up.
His next gig with Tafel Lager is set to take place at the end of the month, with information on the venues to be communicated next week.
