CIVICS midfield genius Rudi Louw is close to signing for premiership outfit African Stars, after he took part in the first training session for the side yesterday.
Louw, who played for Civics at the start of the season late last year, has expressed a willingness to turn out for the Samba Boys according to sources.
Louw officially resigned from Civics this month and his move to Stars has been linked with the huge investments likely to come to the side this year, courtesy of Namibian businessman Sidney Martin.
Martin has already proposed to take ownership of the club and his investments, which will effectively be accelerated this year, are likely to attract more top-class players to the side.
Yesterday, Civics team manager Paul Stramis confirmed that Louw has resigned, saying that the player was just on loan until December 31 from lower division outfit Monitronic College.
Other players who were loaned out to Civics also included Victor Helu and Bradley ‘Asprilla’ Wermann.
Yesterday, a source at Stars informed The Namibian Sport that the much-travelled Louw was keen to join Stars as the side is in search of an industrious and rather dynamic midfielder such as Louw.
The source said the Stars management have made a lucrative offer to Louw which he could not resist and he will sign the deal within the next few days.
Louw has played for teams such as Ramblers, Orlando Pirates and Blue Waters, while he also had a stint with South African first-division club FC AK under the tutelage of Ali Akan.
Louw is possibly one of the most successful young players who at the age of 23, has won four premiership titles – one with Blue Waters and three with Civics. He has won numerous competitions and received a host of individual awards.
He has played over 40 matches for the national junior teams in total on all levels and has turned out for the Brave Warriors five times.
He has scored 15 goals in total on all national fronts and has played close to 300 matches on the premiership level for different clubs, in which he has scored 88 goals to date.
