Lodge owner survives attack

THE owner of the Vingerklip Lodge situated between Outjo and Khorixas, Ingrid Techow, is recovering in a Windhoek hospital after she was viciously assaulted by two robbers at her home on Friday night.

They stabbed her four times, once on each side of the neck, once in the chest, and once in the stomach. According to the Police, two men gained forceful entry to Techow’s home at around 20h30.They were apparently armed with knives, and demanded money from the lodge owner.Police details become sketchy at this point, but it appears that the robbers did not get any money from Techow.They apparently fled with only a pistol belonging to Techow.According to a Police source at Outjo, lodge employees heard a ruckus and rushed to the scene to find Techow lying in a pool of blood.They rushed her to the Outjo State hospital, from where she was transported to Windhoek.Two suspects were arrested later during the weekend, and the pistol was confiscated from them.They were scheduled to appear in court yesterday to face charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances and attempted murder.The Vingerklip Lodge issued a statement yesterday, saying that Techow was “in a stable condition and recovering well”.The incident had not affected operations at the lodge, the statement said.According to the Police, two men gained forceful entry to Techow’s home at around 20h30.
