TWO Namibians have been selected to attend a two-day Young African Women Leaders Forum in South Africa next week, attended by, among others, US First Lady Michelle Obama.
The forum is sponsored by the US Department of State and will build on the Obama Administration’s ongoing engagement with the next generation of African leaders and the momentum of the August 2010 President’s Forum with Young African Leaders held at the White House. The two Namibians are Delicia Beatrice Kotugondo, a board member of the National Youth Council of Namibia (NYC), and Annastacia Namases, director of Special Olympics Namibia.A media statement from the American Embassy issued on Monday said the forum aims to bring young women leaders from across Sub-Saharan Africa together in one place, so that they can share their experiences and connect with their regional counterparts.’These connections will enhance their work in the future by building strong ties with their counterparts in neighbouring countries,’ the statement said.It noted that the forum will be a unique opportunity to discuss the challenges their respective countries face and share innovative solutions to regional issues. – Nampa
