Local authority councillors to be sworn-in

NEWLY elected local authority councillors will take the oath of office on Wednesday, before assuming duty.

This was announced by the urban and rural development executive director, Nghidinua Daniel, in a statement on Saturday.

“The Act further requires that the swearing-in process be held within seven days of the election. Therefore, Wednesday 2 December 2020 is the date determined by the minister for the swearing-in ceremony,” Daniel said.

The ceremonies will be held in the councillors’ local authority area and presided over by the local or district magistrate.

The councillors are required to make all necessary arrangements for these events.
