Reports reveal that local acapella songstress Liezel Mainga died in a car accident on Friday.
Her death was confirmed in widely circulated social media posts, including that of local acapella group Vocal Motion 6 (VMSIX).
Mainga was reportedly en route to Botswana from the Zambezi region, when the vehicle she was travelling in was involved in an accident.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Liezel Mbile Mainga. Though her time with Vocal Motion 6 was brief, sharing just two performances with us, her presence and passion left a lasting impression,” VMSIX wrote on their official Facebook platform.
Mainga was also popular in Seventh Day Adventist church circles in the Southern African Development Community and is fondly remembered for her contributions in the acapella music space.
