Lira celebrates birthday with live performance tomorrow

South African multi-platinum selling singer and songwriter Lira returns to Namibia tomorrow, 14 March, for a performance at Warehouse Theatre

“I’m spending my birthday in Windhoek, Namibia this Thursday,” the singer tweeted on Monday.

Opening the show will be two local musical favourites, neo-soul artists Sean K and Lize Ehlers.

Born Lerato Molapo in Daveyton, Johannesburg in 1979, her name translates to ‘love’ in Sesotho, which is very apt as she’s infused passion into all aspects of her musical journey, spanning over a decade.

The model, entrepreneur, author and dynamic performer is an 11-time South African Music Award (SAMA) winning Afro-soul vocalist who describes her music as “a fusion of soul, funk and elements of jazz”.

In November 2013, Lira released her first biography in celebration of her 10th anniversary in the music industry. The book titled ‘Making Her Story’ provides an in-depth look into the life of the artist and her road to fame through the eyes of the people closest to her.

The ‘Feel Good’ artist is also currently a coach on ‘The Voice South Africa’.

She will be sharing songs from her most recent project ‘Born Free’, as well as favourites from over the years.

Tickets for the show are available at all Pick n Pay stores countrywide, from webtickets.com.na and at the venue. Doors open at 19h15 and the show begins at 20h00.
