OSHAKATI – The Oshana Regional Liquor Board last week kicked started reviewing new applications for liquor licenses from applicants across the region.

Secretary of the Oshana Regional Liquor Board, Christian Ndaamwakunye Shafuda, told Nampa that 19 new applications had been submitted for consideration. He said only two of the 19 applications were rejected – as they had not met all the necessary requirements.Certificate of fitness by a health inspector, business sketch plans and an administrative costs receipt, Shafuda said, were some of the materials applicants had to submit together with their applications.Shafuda noted that for the past two years the Oshana Regional Liquor Board, chaired by Magistrate Helena Ekandjo, had received 167 applications of which 131 had been approved.Oshakati topped of the applications list with 59, followed by Ondangwa with 48 and 14 from Ongwediva.The rest of the applications were received from villages near the three towns.The Liquor Act of 1998 requires anyone selling liquor to be legally licensed and to provide toilet facilities for the customers.- NampaHe said only two of the 19 applications were rejected – as they had not met all the necessary requirements.
