Lawyer Kadhila Amoomo has directed himself and his employees to start using state healthcare facilities instead of going to private doctors.
Amoomo confirmed this to The Namibian on Friday.
This follows president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s directive to civil servants, particularly those in senior positions, to utilise state healthcare facilities.
“My employees will no longer go to private healthcare facilities for medical purposes, but we will all use state healthcare facilities because meme Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says so,” Amoomo stated, adding that he was inspired by Nandi-Ndaitwah’s speech.
“We are proud of her, so we will emulate this positive development. We also urge all our clients to use state hospitals,” he wrote on social media.
Nandi-Ndaitwah made the directive on Friday while addressing government employees.
“All of us as civil servants have options for medical aid, and then we go for private practice. We don’t use state facilities, and that’s why I said minister of health with your team… I gave the time frame. We will start with senior civil servants,” she said.
The president added:
“The government medical aid will be there. But for you and me, we should use state facilities,” she directed.
She said this shows commitment to ensure that state facilities are brought up to standard to serve the nation properly.
