MICROSOFT yesterday launched the latest version of ‘SQL Server 2005’ – a database solution for companies to securely store, manage, analyse and report on mission-critical business data.

The launch took place in Windhoek during a two-day seminar around the theme ‘evolution’ by Microsoft, Business Connexion and Logical Networks. “We have been listening to our customers and have responded,” explained Pierre Nel, Microsoft Regional Manager for Southern and Eastern Africa.Nel said, “Many businesses are looking for ways to record and store critical information about their customers in one central place, mine that data and then provide reports to different people in the business sector to make better and faster decisions. Our new database, SQL 2005 provides just that.”Available in different editions for small, medium and large businesses – as well as a free ‘express’ version for enthusiasts – Microsoft says SQL 2005 is designed to deliver on four key business issues: increasing efficiency, making better decisions, facilitating operational excellence and ease of use.It offers tools for people to develop applications and programmes that they need in their businesses – known as ‘Visual Studio’.It also provides a simple way for those applications and programmes to be integrated across a company – known as the ‘BizTalk Server’.”The core message this week is that our solutions are ready to connect, scale, communicate and create a better decision-making platform for businesses. We are ready to turn data into valuable information and give local companies the competitive edge and advantage they need,” added Nel.The seminar ends today.-Nampa”We have been listening to our customers and have responded,” explained Pierre Nel, Microsoft Regional Manager for Southern and Eastern Africa.Nel said, “Many businesses are looking for ways to record and store critical information about their customers in one central place, mine that data and then provide reports to different people in the business sector to make better and faster decisions. We are ready to turn data into valuable information and give local companies the competitive edge and advantage they need,” added Nel.The seminar ends today.-Nampa
