Late Ondonga chairperson principled – chief Nangolo

ONDONGA chief Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo has described the late chairperson of the Ondonga traditional council, chairperson Vilho Kamanja, as a steadfast and principled leader.

Nangolo said this at Kamanja’s memorial service on Friday at his house at Onyaanya B village in the Oshikoto region.

“He was a trustful and retentive person,” Nangolo said.

Kamanja’s wife Hilma described her husband as a good advisor who liked order.

“He was patient and did not put himself first,” she said in her speech, read on her behalf by Lea Namupala, a relative.

The two got married in September 1977 at Oshigambo, which is also in the Oshikoto region.

Kamanja also served as Oshikoto regional governor from 1999 to 2004 and as Onyaanya councillor from 1992 to 2004.

He died on 31 December last year in a northern hospital at the age of 74.

President Hage Geingob this week accorded him an official funeral.

His remains were buried on Saturday at Onyaanya cemetery.
