Landless People’s Movement activist Michael Amushelelo was arrested on Monday afternoon over the malicious damage to property.
A University of Namibia (Unam) student on Monday opened a case against him for attempting to block him (the student) from exiting the campus.
This comes as a group of LPM members tried to block access to the university.
This was confirmed by Khomas regional police commander commissioner Wilhelm Steenkamp on Monday afternoon.
Unam spokesperson Simon Namesho said the university’s temporary banning of political student activities remains in place, despite a Swapo gathering taking place on campus last week.
He said the university is investigating the incident.
Amushelelo on Monday said police inspector general Joseph Shikongo was being “personal” by deploying police officers to arrest him.
