Land in Kavango allocated for Green Scheme

A PIECE of land in the Kavango Region, formerly used by the Development Brigade Corporation (DBC) and the Ministry of Defence, will be transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture for use by the Green Scheme Project.

A statement from Cabinet Chambers said Cabinet acknowledged at its 18th ordinary meeting on July 13 that the plot adjacent to the Mashare Agricultural Development Institute had not been used to its fullest for a number of years. In 1999, the NDF used the area to fend off attacks by Angolan rebels across the border until the end of the war.The buildings on the plot will now be upgraded through funds from the Luxembourg government to house trainees who will be taught crop production and horticulture.Petroleum Act amendment CABINET has authorised the Finance Ministry to table an amendment to the Petroleum Taxation Act in the National Assembly.The amendment is aimed at changing the rates on profit taxes for licence holders of petroleum exploration, development and production projects.Nujoma re-appointed to head law reform body UUTONI Nujoma has been re-appointed as the Chairperson of the Law Reform and Development Commission on the recommendation of Justice Minister Albert Kawana.He will serve in the position for the next five years.Lynita Conradie, Naomi Shivute, Sam Amoo, Andreas Vaatz, Tjakazenga Kamuhanga-Hoveka and Mandi Samson, were appointed on a part-time basis for three years.The term of office of the former members expired on July 14.In 1999, the NDF used the area to fend off attacks by Angolan rebels across the border until the end of the war.The buildings on the plot will now be upgraded through funds from the Luxembourg government to house trainees who will be taught crop production and horticulture.
