PINEHAS NAKAZIKOAWARD-WINNING gospel star Lady May Africa kicks off 2022 on a high note, with the release of her latest single, ‘Brand New’, featuring Nigerian singer Kay_Maxx.
Lady May Africa says she chose to work with Kay_Maxx after listening to some of his work and liking his professional voice.
“I heard Kay_Maxx’s music, and it was remarkably great. I spoke to his management about collaborating on my song. They agreed, and the rest is history,” she says.
The song was produced by Jowdy, who is well-known in music circles as It’s Jowdy On The Beat, and was inspired by a verse from the Bible – 2 Corinthians 5:17.
The performer says releasing the song was a very special moment for her, and she deliberately chose to launch it on her birthday.
It is also the first track released under her new record label, Crystal Lady May Records, known as CLM-R, through which Lady May Africa hopes to contribute something special to the industry.
“I am definitely looking forward to working with anyone that wants to work with me.”
So far the response to ‘Brand New’ has been positive, she says.
“The response from my amazing fans has been remarkably great, as they keep writing to me expressing how they love the new song. They show complete support and I dearly appreciate them.”
The song is available from all leading online stores, as well as for streaming and downloading on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, Tidal and DonLu Africa.
The song will also feature on Lady May Africa’s upcoming album, but for now, the singer says she and her team are hard at work promoting ‘Brand New’ and planning the music video.
Earlier this week, Lady May Africa posted a teaser and lyrics of the music video for another of her songs, ‘Good Vibes’.
“We have many other amazing projects lined up that we will announce when the time comes. This is a sweet surprise,” she says.
Despite many challenges in the music industry globally, Lady May Africa says she’s is in it for the long haul.
“Every industry faces challenges. It’s not the challenges that define your longevity, but your will to continue, stay focused, keep pushing and not give up that will see you in a fixed and well-balanced position.”
The singer started her gospel journey with D-Naff Entertainment in 2019, releasing ‘Let It Shine’, which attracted a lot of attention from both local and international fans. She also released her first gospel album later that year, titled ‘Unbroken’.
