MANCHESTER – Harriet Harman, the secretary of state for justice, was narrowly elected Sunday as deputy leader of Britain’s governing Labour Party, the party announced.
Labour lawmakers, grassroots members and affiliated trade unions elected Harman, 56, over five other candidates after five close rounds of voting in Manchester, northwest England.
