In an interview with unWrap.online recently, the business-minded Kweyo said the lip line idea came about after years of trying to find the perfect lip balm.
“Ever since I was a child, I've always had lip balms and lip glosses. I loved taking care of my lips and keeping them moisturised. As I grew older, I started loving make-up more, and learning to do my own make-up. It was so therapeutic whenever I had a bad day to sit down at my dresser and do a little face beat. Suddenly, I would feel better, but there was always something missing, especially in terms of the lip glosses and lipsticks,” she said.
Kweyo would mix different lip brands together to try to achieve the perfect consistency, and loved how the mixture turned out.
“I remember always mixing Mac and Essence, but one day I was thinking I could try to come up with my own formulation rather, something I genuinely liked and didn't have to mix with anything.
“I did my research and reached out to a factory, told them what I wanted and they sent me a bunch of formulas to test out and pick the one I wanted. I picked the one I genuinely liked, and that's where it all started.”
Kweyo said her lip line is unique because it is “nice and creamy” and not sticky, while the matte formula of the lipsticks ensure longlasting colour.
“They do not come off, even after drinking/eating anything, you will have to wipe really hard with make-up remover wipes or Vaseline. That's how I like my lipsticks, so hopefully someone out there likes it like that too.”
She said her brand caters for everyone.
“By everyone, I mean all ages and races, including the LGBTQIA+ community. I tried to be inclusive and make everyone feel more beautiful when they use my products.”
The lip glosses cost N$150 and the lipsticks are N$200 (including free delivery countrywide). – unWrap.online
