Kunene win the Cup

Kunene won the Nedbank Namibia Newspaper Cup after beating Kavango West 2-0 in the final at Outjo on Monday.

Goals by Dixon Khuriseb and Brundhino Kandirikirira gave them a hard-fought victory that sent home fans wild with delight.

Kunene immediately went on the attack with their wingers Matino Kauzuu and Khuriseb creating several chances with their incisive attacks.

Kunene took the lead on 10 minutes after Kauzuu whipped in a cross, and Khuriseb headed in from close range.

Kavango West striker Mathias Kamanya had a shot saved midway through the first half, but the better chances came at the other end with Khuriseb coming close with a header from a corner just before halftime.

Kunene went 2-0 ahead when they won a penalty early in the second half and Kandirikirira made no mistake from the spot.

Kamanya remained dangerous for Kavango West while Kasius Sitentu headed over the bar from a corner in the dying minutes, but Kunene held on for a deserved victory.
