Kunene ready for electoral registration

THE Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN)’s regional coordinator for Kunene region, Mike Nganjone, says the region is ready for the supplementary voters registration.

Nganjone told this week that the training for team leaders commenced on Thursday at Opuwo and Khorixas and will continue until 24 August.

Training for registration officers will start on 27 August until 4 September, while deployment of teams will start from 5 to 6 September.

The Kunene region will have designated team leaders, three team leaders for Outjo constituency, four for Kamanjab constituency, four for Khorixas constituency, ten for Epupa constituency, six for Opuwo rural constituency, two for Opuwo urban constituency and five for Sesfontein constituency. Two special teams, one for the northern part and another for the southern part of Kunene region, are also included.

Each team will consist of six members.

Nganjone said during training, the ministry of health’s Civid-19 regulations will be adhered to.

Eleven support staff from the information technology field will be trained in Opuwo and then dispatched to their respective constituencies to train the registration officials, while 11 supervisors will be trained for the regional council and four for the local authority elections.

Nganjone said training for team leaders for the northern part of Kunene region, including Epupa, Opuwo Urban, Opuwo Rural and Sesfontein constituencies commenced at Opuwo, while the southern part of Kunene team leaders are being trained at Khorixas.
