THE governors of the Kunene and Erongo regions yesterday met at Ani#Chab, a village bordering the two regions, to kickstart a planned partnership in aiding communities.
The governor of the Kunene region, Marius Sheya, said service delivery is a collective effort.
“We decided to meet to see how to collaborate since we share borders,” Sheya said.
He said there are many areas which have been discussed for future cooperation. “We can unlock this potential for residents of the two regions as well as for our whole country,” Sheya said.
The Kunene governor said it was a good start and he was happy to see communities interact and share challenges.
Erongo governor Neville Andre said since the two regions have communities residing at the border and are making use of the same services, they thought it’s best to join hands to help people in remote areas.
“Residents are far from services in the Erongo region, but are near government services in the Kunene region,” Andre said.
He said the two governors decided to get together to hand out parcels to the local community.
“This is our way to address the issues of our people; to join hands. If I am not able to, then the governor of the Kunene region can help,” he said.
Christine !Naibas, (74) one of the 100 beneficiaries to receive a food parcel, said she was delighted to see two governors cooperating in helping the communities.
!Naibas said she is grateful for the food parcel.
Priska Aline Kangombe, a beneficiary in the Erongo region, said she was grateful and happy to see the two governors uplift their communities.
