Kooper replaces Swartbooi in parliament

PRESIDENT Hage Geingob announced today that he has appointed Paula Kooper to the National Assembly to replace former Swapo MP Bernadus Swartbooi.

The announcement was made when Geingob opened the 6th Swapo Party Youth League congress at Katima Mulilo this morning.

Kooper, a SPYL central committee member, previously served as senior private secretary to Swapo’s chief whip in the party’s parliamentary caucus.

She was on the 2014 Swapo list of 82 parliamentary candidates – above seniors like Elifas Dingara, Martha Namundjebo-Tilahun, former information minister Joel Kaapanda, home affairs minister Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, former education minister David Namwandi, National Council chairperson Margaret Mensah-Williams, Swapo women’s league secretary Eunice Iipinge, former mines minister Isak Katali and Kunene governor Angelika Muharukua.
