Koekemoer new squash chairman

RUDI Koekemoer has been elected as chairman of the Namibia Squash Association following its annual general meeting last weekend.

Koekemoer will head the executive committee, which includes the secretary Robert McGregor, the treasurer Michau Basson, Steven Berry (marketing and public relations), Gerdus Louwrens (masters, and information and communications technology) and Devon Savage (development and coaching).

According to the NSA constitution, the following chairpersons of clubs affiliated to the NSA will serve as additional members – Jacques van der Smit of Wanderers, Paul de Lange of Klein Windhoek, Lindsay Lottering of Buccaneers, Arno Kok of Swakopmund, and Tyc Kakehongo of Unam.

At the meeting, the NSA defined its mandate as follows: ‘to promote and facilitate the development and growth of squash in Namibia,’ while its core values are expressed through the acronym ‘squash’: sportsmanship, Quality, Unity, Accessibility, Stewardship and Honesty.

The first national tournament of the year takes place this coming weekend at the Wanderers Squash Club, where the top 16 men and women will compete for places in the national team that will participate in South Africa and other SADC events later this year.

The competing men are:

Kyle Kriel, Max Endjala, Devon Savage, Andrew Fourie, Brandon Grane, Danie Greeff, Sven Gruttemeyer, Angelo Titus, Immanuel Amarongo, Cecil Humphries, Emil Dorgeloh, Wilco Aschenborn, Steven Berry, Christof Knoetze, Stockley van Horsten and Nicholas berry.

The competing women are:

Delia van Zyl, Adri Lambert, Judith Savage, Chantel de Gouveia, Christiana Beulker, Charne Fourie, Dene van Zyl, Nancy Fernandes, Trix van der Westhuizen, Jessica Moore, Carla Venter, Kirsten Wolhuter, Hendrina Louw, Liezl Wijgergangs, Gwen Lister and Maryke Serdyn.
