//Kharas deploys 665 polling officials

//Kharas chief electoral officer Kaino Mujoro says the electoral commission is deploying 665 polling officials across the region.

This is to give all eligible voters the opportunity to exercise their democratic right by casting their vote during Wednesday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

Mujoro said 95% of the teams have been dispatched to the Mata-Mata border post, Lüderitz and Oranjemund, among others, despite vehicle challenges experienced.

Teams from Karasburg West and Karasburg East were dispatched by government buses to reach their destinations.

“As we speak now all the required vehicles have been sourced. We only have teams from Berseba constituency and Keetmanshoop left. They will be dispatched this evening since they are in the 60km radius. Their logistics, sensitive and non-sensitive items are being compiled now so they can go set up overnight at the polling venues,” said Mujoro.

She said the region also experienced challenges, with officials demanding a higher training fee. The Electoral Commission of Namibia later offered a higher fee which settled the issue.
