FIFA held its 55th ordinary congress in Marrakech, Morocco – the first Fifa congress to be held on African soil.
A task force is to be set up by Fifa that will report back to next year’s congress on the following aspects at national association level: – Government interference in football; – The way associations run their leagues; – Player agents’ activities and club ownership; – Doping, corruption, drugs, women’s football and youth interests; – Professionalisation of football with the idea of keeping young talent home in an organised setup; – Proactive secretariats are encouraged with constitutions making them administratively sound and stable; and – The viability of associate membership in constitutions of associations.
