The Keetmanshoop Municipality has handed over two fully funded road upgrade projects aimed at improving accessibility, creating jobs and boosting economic activity at Krönlein and Tseiblaagte.
The projects were handed over to contractors in partnership with the Road Fund Administration (RFA) and the Roads Authority (RA).
The projects include the upgrading of Commercial Street and Windhoek Weg at Krönlein, awarded to Enigma Investment at N$2.59 million, and the upgrading of Unitas Weg at Tseiblaagte, awarded to Hennima Investment at N$5.9 million.
Both projects are fully funded by the RFA.
Speaking at the handover event, Keetmanshoop town councillor Easter Isaak said the developments were about more than just tar and gravel.
“These projects are about socio-economic growth. Roads reduce travel time, improve access to businesses and services, and bring dignity to our communities,” he said.
Isaak acknowledged the temporary disruptions that come with construction, but urged residents to cooperate with contractors.
“Yes, there will be inconveniences, but the long-term benefits far outweigh them. Today’s handover is a symbol of progress and partnership for Keetmanshoop,” he said.
The Unitas Weg project falls under a three-year agreement between the municipality, the RFA and the RA, which will see more streets upgraded in the future.
Isaak praised the RFA and RA for their support and commended the contractors for their role in delivering quality infrastructure.
The projects are expected to create jobs, improve accessibility and stimulate economic activity at both Tseiblaagte and Krönlein.
