Keetmans burglar caught red-handed

SWIFT response by the Keetmanshoop Police and a local security company stopped a burglar in his tracks during an attempted housebreaking at the local Nampost branch on Tuesday night.

Police managed to catch one suspect, who was still inside the Nampost building when they got there, while another suspect escaped. The 24-year-old suspect will appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court today on a housebreaking charge.The thieves gained entry through a window.Security guards who were on duty at a nearby building heard the noise made when the thieves smashed the window and alerted the Police.The suspect is believed to be linked to a recent spate of burglaries in the South.According to Nampol’s Deputy Commissioner Josephat Abel, the way the burglars entered the building is identical to previous burglaries.Nothing was reported stolen at the Post Office.The 24-year-old suspect will appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court today on a housebreaking charge.The thieves gained entry through a window.
