Kavango West Police arrest 14 over property damage

The Kavango West police have arrested 14 community members for allegedly damaging the fence and poles of a farm in the region over the weekend.

The suspects were arrested on Sunday at Gava village, where they allegedly cut the farm’s fence and poles and threatened to kill the farm workers if they continued working for the complainant.

Kavango West police regional chief inspector Raimberth Muronga confirmed the arrests and the incident.

He added that the suspects used pangas and axes to cause malicious damage to the property.

“A case was opened by a 37-year-old Namibian man. The value of the damage is yet to be determined,” Muronga said.

The suspects, aged between 31 and 54, include two women aged 45 and 42.

Muronga added that the suspects are expected to appear in the Kahenge Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

Police investigations are ongoing.
