Residents of the Kavango East and West regions have been informed about a power outage slated for Sunday.
Northern Electricity Distributor (Nored) head of corporate communications and marketing Simon Lukas in a public notice on Thursday said the two regions’ power will be cut for the annual maintenance of electrical lines from 07h00 to 18h00.
He said the power outage will also affect the supply borders to Angola, such as Cuangar, Calais, Dirico and Botswana/Mohembo.
“The Namibia Power Corporation will do annual maintenance on the Otjikoto-Rundu 132kV line, where they will be replacing damaged and dirty disc insulators as well as replacing wooden crossarms on Mahango and Mpasi 66kV feeders. Furthermore, the Nored team will do maintenance on the overhead lines and tie in new customers on the electricity grid,” he stated.
He cautioned the residents to unplug electrical appliances and switch off their plugs, notify security/alarm companies monitoring homes and businesses, and acquaint themselves with how to operate garage doors and security gates manually.
“
All electrical installations must be treated as alive at all times, as power will be restored without prior notice. We regret any inconvenience that will be caused during this power outage,” he stated.
