Katupose sinks Blue Waters

A late goal by Muna Katupose gave Black Africa a 2-1 victory against Blue Waters at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday.

Marco van Wyk headed BA into the lead early in the second half but Blue Waters struck back through a great goal by Hendrik Somaeb on 76 minutes.

Blue Waters had seemingly done enough for a draw but substitute Katupose struck BA’s winner, volleying in a cross by Willy Stephanus with three minutes to go.

The victory saw the BA climbing two places to second on the log on 6 points – 3 points behind log leaders Tigers, who beat Civics 2-1 on Friday night.

Black Africa lead three other teams who are also on 6 points, on goal difference.

Blue Boys moved up to third on 6 points with a come from behind 2-1 victory against United Stars in Swakopmund.

Jordan Haimbili missed a penalty for Blue Boys in the first half and Stars took the lead early in the second half.

Nathaniel Nuyoma equalised for Blue Boys before Abed Namukwambi scored the winner on 80m.

African Stars got their first win of the season with a confidence boosting 4-0 victory away to Rundu Chiefs.

The victory was a morale booster for Stars, coming on the same day as coach Woody Jacobs and defender Hartman Toromba’s birthdays.

Elvis Tjivasera scored two goals and Chris Katjiukua and Edwin Korukuve one each to seal the victory that saw Stars moving up to sixth on the table on 4 points.

Ramblers also moved up to 4 points after beating Eleven Arrows 4-2 in Windhoek.

Bruce Goseb and Lucky Kooper gave Ramblers a 2-0 lead at halftime but Arrows came back strongly in the second half to open their account through a header by Ferdinand Karongee.

Diego Descande restored Ramblers’ lead with a breakaway goal, but the hard running Raynold Eiseb gave Arrows hope with their second goal with 8 minutes remaining.

Ramblers however had the final say when Alfred Ndyenge hit the back of the net in injury time with a fine shot from the edge of the box.
