Katupose brothers join City

IN an attempt to strengthen their squad for the 2007/08 football season, northern giants Oshakati City have secured the services of identical Brave Warriors twins Muna and Tara Katupose from Second Division side Epupa Eleven Stars.

The twins were expected to make their premiership debut for City in last weekend’s goalless draw against Cymot SKW, but there was confusion about their player’s cards in on the eve of the match and they could not feature for City as a result. “They could not play last weekend because there was a misunderstanding regarding their player’s cards,” said City’s general secretary Tommy Hauwanga.”The team (Epupa) is saying that the cards are with the Namibia Football Association (NFA), while the NFA is saying the cards got lost somewhere in Nkurenkuru.”The NPL has however suggested to us to make new cards for the players so that they can play in the upcoming match against Orlando Pirates.”According to Hauwanga, the delay affected his side dearly as most of their midfield players are ruled out with injury. He added that the home matches in Tsumeb also affected them, as there were relatively few fans to rally behind them at a neutral venue. The move has been caused by the renovations at the Oshakati Independence Stadium.Muna Katupose told Namibia Sport that the twins were ready to make an impression in the top flight and that it would be a great experience to play against their national teammates.”We are proud of the new move to Oshakati City.We really want to compete and show our best against the country’s best,” said Muna, who netted the winning goal against Ethiopia, which ensured Namibia’s qualification to the African Nations Cup finals in Ghana next year. The twins will be expected to make their debut in the top flight this coming weekend as City host a star-studded Orlando Pirates side at the Oscar Norich Stadium in Tsumeb.”I don’t underestimate Orlando Pirates and they should not underestimate us either. It does not matter whether we are playing in Tsumeb or in Windhoek, the boys are prepared for them,” Hauwanga warned Pirates.Namibia Sport”They could not play last weekend because there was a misunderstanding regarding their player’s cards,” said City’s general secretary Tommy Hauwanga.”The team (Epupa) is saying that the cards are with the Namibia Football Association (NFA), while the NFA is saying the cards got lost somewhere in Nkurenkuru.”The NPL has however suggested to us to make new cards for the players so that they can play in the upcoming match against Orlando Pirates.”According to Hauwanga, the delay affected his side dearly as most of their midfield players are ruled out with injury. It does not matter whether we are playing in Tsumeb or in Windhoek, the boys are prepared for them,” Hauwanga warned Pirates.Namibia Sport
