A Katima Mulilo man (25) was arrested over the death of his daughter (2), whom he allegedly killed after her grandmother confronted him over child support on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Lekisha Sizuka.
Her next of kin have been informed of her death.
Acting regional police commander deputy commissioner Magdalena Garises confirmed the incident yesterday.
She said a neighbour discovered the toddler’s body at the Cowboy location on Wednesday.
The grandmother allegedly left the child in the suspect’s care after the argument.
“It’s alleged that the suspect, who is the child’s biological father, was given the child by the grandmother after she got into an argument with him over a lack of child support.
“The next day, the suspect took the child to his uncle’s house at Cowboy. He was then seen entering the room with the child and started playing loud music,” she said.
Garises said the domestic helper heard the toddler crying a few minutes later, before falling silent.
“She thought the suspect managed to calm the child and that she slept. However, the neighbour later found the child dead when she came to check up on them, because the owners of the house are in Windhoek,” she said.
Garises said the police were alerted and the suspect was arrested.
