Karas Police seize dagga worth N$34 000

POLICE in the Karas Region have seized dagga with an estimated value of N$34 977 at a roadblock on the B1 road between Karasburg and Ariamsvlei.

The Police arrested a 35-year-old Karasburg resident, Justinus Bobby Witbooi, in connection with the dagga seizure on January 2.
Witbooi has already made a brief appearance in the Karasburg Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of and dealing with dagga.
He remains in custody and is set to return to court on January 27.
The acting regional Police commander, Chief Inspector Nicky Nampala, said there are other pending drug-related charges against Witbooi.
According to Nampala, Witbooi did not pass through the border entry point with the dagga.
‘He [allegedly] used another route than the border entry point when he smuggled the dagga into the country,’ he said.
