Kamangili to Revive Gospel with ‘Opina’

• Pinehas NakazikoWhile some musicians veer away from making gospel music, Evangelist Forcecome Kamangili, popularly known as Kamangili, says he’s here to revive the genre in Namibia.

The singer recently released his third album, ‘Opina’, which he says means “Jesus Christ is the pin code to people lives”.

“We need to accept him in our lives, as the centre of everything, in whatever we are doing because if we have him as our pin code, we will not be jealous of anyone,” says Kamangili.

The album aims to teach people how to respect others, especially the elderly, and encourages fans to work in unity with one another.

Kamangili started singing in the Okelemba Combined School choir. His recorded his first album in 2018, and in 2019 he released ‘The Trumpet’, which was well received by gospel lovers.

‘Opina’ features 15 tracks sung in his vernacular language Oshiwambo. It contains some smash hits with good melodies such as ‘Ehambelelo’, ‘Pangela’ and ‘Okudulika’.

He collaborated with fellow gospel singers Sister Helena, Sister Castone and Faith Frieda, while the album was produced by Jux Tulela Music Productions.

Kamangili says he’s currently shooting four music videos for tracks off the album.

Until then, ‘Opina’ is available countrywide, and is being played on local radio stations, as well as online music platforms.
