Kalahari M wins nuclear fuel prospecting licence

LONDON – Kalahari Minerals PLC has announced that its joint venture partner, Extract Resources Ltd, has been offered by the Namibian Ministry of Mines and Energy an exclusive nuclear fuel prospecting licence.

The AIM listed Kalahari Minerals, a mining exploration and evaluation group with assets in Namibia, said the one-year licence will be incorporated within the existing Husab joint venture, in which Kalahari Minerals has a 49 per cent stake and Extract holds the rest. Kalahari Minerals said the new project is located between the Roessing uranium mine, one of the world’s biggest, and the Langer Heinrich uranium deposit.The company also said that environmental approvals for a planned programme of drilling to test favourable granitic rock stratigraphy under desert soil cover at the Roessing South Prospect have been received.”It is expected that this work programme will commence in the current quarter,” read the statement released on Monday.Kalahari Minerals said the new project is located between the Roessing uranium mine, one of the world’s biggest, and the Langer Heinrich uranium deposit.The company also said that environmental approvals for a planned programme of drilling to test favourable granitic rock stratigraphy under desert soil cover at the Roessing South Prospect have been received.”It is expected that this work programme will commence in the current quarter,” read the statement released on Monday.
