Kaaronda describes late Swanu leader Kuzeeko Kangueehi as selfless

Swanu of Namibia president Evilastus Kaaronda has described the late Kuzeeko Kangueehi as a selfless leader.

Kangueehi died on 15 May at the age of 81.

He was the party’s president from 1984 to 1988.

“Kuzeeko Kangueehi, ‘aka KK’, was one of Swanu’s most selfless cadres and he became president of Swanu at a time when it was least fashionable to do so,” Kaaronda says.

Firmly grounded in the African socialist principles of Ubuntu, Kaaronda says Kangueehi was passionate about the economic emancipation of the black majority of the people.

He became a target of the apartheid South African regime when he, as president, refused to join what was then referred to as the government of national unity, which the late Moses Katjiuongua and his breakaway group had joined.

He says Kangueehi was among the Swanu leaders assigned to gather military support for an armed liberation struggle against the apartheid regime.

“He is indeed a hero and veteran of our liberation struggle. May his soul rest in peace,” says Kaaronda.
