The Ministry OF Justice and Labour Relations confirms with deep sorrow the death of Ondangwa regional control prosecutor Justine Shiweda, who succumbed to her injuries on Saturday following a heinous attack last October.
Shiweda was a dedicated and courageous public servant who served the people of Namibia with unwavering commitment. Her work as a prosecutor was vital to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice was served. The ministry extends its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
The attack on Shiweda was an attack on the entire justice system. We will not be intimidated by such cowardly acts. The ministry is working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure that all individuals involved in this horrific crime are brought to justice.
We call on all Namibians to stand together against violence and to support the work of our law enforcement and justice officials. The safety and security of our prosecutors and all officers of the court are of paramount importance. The ministry will be reviewing and reinforcing security measures to ensure their protection.
We honour Shiweda’s memory and her selfless contribution to the Namibian people. Her legacy will inspire us to continue our work with even greater resolve.
