Pickering said she decided to resign to take up another offer of employment, which has been on the table since 2019.

She said she could not take up the offer because “my loyalty has always been with the ministry and government at large”.

In his response, dated 10 June, Simataa thanked Pickering for her work at the ministry.
“As per good governance practice, you will be expected to prepare handout notes for the incoming executive director on all ongoing projects within the ministry and any other relevant information that you might feel will assist him or her in executing his or her duties,” Simataa wrote.
Pickering declined to comment on her move. Simataa referred questions to Pickering.
