Julinho Sporting gave a battling display to hold Unam to a 2-all draw in a Namibia Premier League Round 8 match in Windhoek on Saturday.
Unam took the lead through Edmund Kambanda on 32 minutes but Julinho equalised two minutes later through Henry Duwe.
Julinho took the lead through Veiko Sindimba on 75 minutes, but two minutes later it was once again level after Demuata Shivute headed in from a corner.
The match was not much of a spectacle as the windy conditions hampered accurate passing and ball control, while there were few shots on target.
Unam striker Lorenzo Louis blasted over the bar early on, while Uakumbira Arauju put in some strong attacks down the right wing for Julinho.
It wasn’t until the 32nd minute however that the deadlock was broken, as Unam caught Julinho with a quick counterattack and an unmarked Edmund Kambanda stabbed the ball into the net at the far post.
Two minutes later the teams were however level after an error by Unam keeper Ephraim Tjihonge. He failed to control an innocuous shot by Henry Duwe that squirmed in under his body into the net.
Unam captain Heini Isaacks made an impact in the second half as Unam upped the tempo, but it was the visitors who took the lead on 75 minutes.
They pierced Unam’s defence with a quick counterattack and an unmarked Veiko Sindimba rounded the move off by stabbing in at the far post.
Their lead didn’t last long though, as Unam equalised two minutes later with a thumping header by Demuata Shivute from a corner.
In the final stages, Julinho defender Elia Veikko prevented a certain goal with a great tackle on Panduleni Nekundi in the box, while a freekick by Julinho midfielder Toto Masima went narrowly wide.
In other matches on Saturday, Tigers beat Flamingoes 1-0 in Rehoboth, while two second half goals by Terdius Uiseb gave Orlando Pirates a 2-1 victory away to Rundu Chiefs.
In Oshakati, Young Chiefs were held to a 2-2 draw by Civics and in Otjiwarongo Mighty Gunners beat Blue Waters 2-0.
In Windhoek Tura Magic were held to a goalless draw by United Stars, while Citizens beat Eleven Arrows 1-0.
