REHOBOTH – Julinho Sporting Football Club on Friday defeated home team Blue Waters 2-1 in a pulsating Namibia Premier League match played at Kuisebmond Stadium in Walvis Bay.
Julinho took the game to the hosts and scored a goal that was ruled out for offside in the 5th minute, but upped the tempo and scored their first goal in the 21st minute through Hendry Duwe to go into the break with a 1-0 lead.
The home team came out rejuvenated in the second half and equalised in the 56th minute via the boot of Enrico Hoebeb to level matters.
With the scores levelled at 1-all, Julinho scored another goal, but was ruled out for offside again.
In the 80th minute Julinho scored what turned out to be the winner through the boot of Gabriel Ntjamba with the full time score ending 2-1 in favour of the visitors.
Speaking to Nampa on Saturday, Blue Waters coach Christy ||Guruseb said they had a good game and the score is not a true reflection of how the game was.
“We don’t have an out-and-out striker and had to rely on wing play to attack with numbers in the opposition box. Had we taken the chances that we created we could have had a different result,” ||Guruseb said.
He said the team need reinforcement in the striking and goalkeeping departments to play to their full potential.
Meanwhile, Julinho Sporting coach Nelson Luis said the game was 50-50, but they made use of their chances.
“I am glad we picked up another three points on the run again and we are on course to achieve our aim to finish in the top five. The boys really did well and our focus now is the match against Arrows on Sunday,” he said.
In another match played at the same venue on Friday, visiting Citizens defeated Eleven Arrows 1-0.
The matches will continue on Saturday with Life Fighters facing Tigers at the Mokati Stadium in Otjiwarongo at 16h00.
In Karasburg, home team Young Brazilians will count on their home support to make things difficult for African Stars in a match scheduled for 16h00 at the Karasburg Combined School Stadium.
The Katutura derby between Black Africa and Orlando Pirates will take place at the Sam Nujoma Stadium starting at 18h00.
On Sunday at the Kuisebmond Stadium, Eleven Arrows will come up against Julinho Sporting at 13h00, while Mighty Gunners and Okahandja United will close off the weekend fixtures at the Mokati Stadium. – Nampa
