Award-winning local rapper Jericho Gawanab, popularly known as Jericho, is revving up the December mood with feel-good vibes with his track, ‘Chip In Chip Out’.
He says the song is street-centered and focused on efficient action.
“The song isn’t specifically a December anthem; it’s more about fostering a positive vibe within a street context – swift and efficient,” he says.
“I decided to release only the single, the second from my album, for several reasons, especially concerning the logistics and packaging. I want the album to truly reflect what I envision for Jericho – a legacy, a brand and a musical force,” he says.
However, Jericho’s ambitions soar beyond borders. While his quest for an international feature has hit a snag, he remains hopeful that the collaboration may still materialise between now and January.
“Perhaps it’s God’s timing; my fans need to bear with me. I’m working on it and my seventh studio album holds plenty of surprises.
“’Chip In Chip Out’ serves as a prelude to the album’s release. We’ll drop it once everything is aligned, particularly after finalising the international collaboration,” Jericho says of his future plans, including a new single in January, accompanied by two music videos, all leading up to the eventual release of a 14-track album.
Jericho hits the stage at the MTC OAS1SONE Skeleton Coast Festival on 16 December, followed by a performance at Wizy Man Restaurant & Car Wash at Walvis Bay alongside Sunny Boy and Manxebe on the same night.
“On the 20th, coinciding with my daughter’s birthday, we’ll shoot the ‘Chip In Chip Out’ video and delve into remixing the track with a select group of industry heavyweights,” Jericho says. – unWrap.online
